Carnuel, NM - Deputy Hurt in Rear-End Crash on I-40

Carnuel, NM (October 16, 2023) - A car accident involving a deputy vehicle outside of Carnuel resulted in injuries on Sunday, October 15. 

The accident took place on Interstate 40 EB. Local sources indicated that a deputy’s vehicle was rear-ended on the highway. The deputy operating the vehicle was transported to a local hospital for treatment of sustained injuries. 

All lanes were closed while emergency responders were present, but the area has since been reopened. No updates on the condition of the injured party have been provided at this time. 

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in progress, and more information will be released as it continues.
