Clovis, NM - Billie Brazell Killed in Street Race Accident at 21st St & Mitchell St

Clovis, NM (December 26, 2023) - On Christmas Day, an elderly woman was killed after the car she was driving was hit by a speeding driver in the Clovis area. The deadly accident was reported at the corner of 21st Street and Mitchell Street at around 2:20 p.m. Local reports revealed that 83-year-old Billie Brazell was headed west in a Toyota Corolla as she was attempting to make a turn at the intersection. 

It was then that a Dodge Charger driven by a 24-year-old man headed eastbound crashed into the Toyota. Emergency responders were dispatched to extricate the driver of the Dodge and provide life-saving measures on Brazell. Brazell suffered fatal injuries in the impact. 

It was reported that the Dodge was racing a pickup truck at the time of the fatal collision. The pickup reportedly fled the scene and has not been found. No additional information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly crash is being handled by local law enforcement officials.
