Farmington, NM – Fatality in Fiery Head-on Crash on NM-371

Farmington, NM (August 1, 2025) – On Tuesday, July 29, there were fatal injuries after a vehicle collision outside of Farmington. The incident took place on NM-371 near mile marker 102 at County Road 7010 that afternoon at around 3:47 p.m. Local reports revealed that the driver of a semi-trailer, George Stokes, pulled over to the side of the road after turning onto NM-371 to let vehicles behind him pass. 

The driver of a white vehicle behind him went around him and then passed another car by entering into oncoming traffic. The driver of a tan vehicle attempted an evasive maneuver but was unable to avoid crashing head-on with the oncoming vehicle. One of the vehicles then caught fire as a result of the impact. The driver of the white car was helped out of their vehicle and transported to a local hospital by ambulance. The driver and passenger of the tan vehicle suffered fatal injuries and were later pronounced dead. Although no further information on the crash is currently available, law enforcement are currently investigating the incident.
