Los Alamos, NM - One Killed, Two Hurt in Pileup Crash on NM-501

Los Alamos, NM (February 28, 2024) - On Tuesday morning, February 27, one person was killed and two others were injured after a multi-vehicle accident outside of Los Alamos. The accident was reported on NM-501 near mile marker seven at around 7:27 a.m. Local reports indicated that three vehicles collided at the scene. 

Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to provide aid to the involved parties. A 44-year-old Santa Fe man was killed in the crash. Two other victims, a 22-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man, both from White Rock, were injured. They were transported to Cristus St. Vincent Hospital for treatment of sustained injuries. 

The area was temporarily closed while emergency units worked to clear the scene. The area was later reopened to outside traffic at around 1:45 p.m. The identities of the involved parties have been withheld. An ongoing investigation into the deadly crash is in the hands of local law enforcement officials.
