Moriarty, NM - One Killed After Semi-Truck Crashes into Building on I-40

Moriarty, NM (July 6, 2024) - On Thursday, July 4, one person was killed and others were hurt after a traffic accident in the Moriarty area. The deadly crash took place on Interstate 40 around noon. Local reports indicated that a semi-truck crashed into a building off the interstate. 

Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. One person sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were transported by ambulance to a local hospital in critical condition. The area was temporarily closed while authorities worked to clear the scene of the resulting wreckage and other debris. The circumstances leading to the incident have not been determined. However, an ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
