Rio Rancho, NM - Deadly Motorcycle Crash at Southern Blvd & 21st St

Rio Rancho, NM (March 14, 2024) - A motorcycle accident in Rio Rancho on Tuesday, March 12, left one person killed and another injured. The deadly accident took place at the corner of Southern Boulevard and 21st Street late that evening at around 8:20 p.m. The victims were traveling westbound on a motorcycle on Southern at the time of the incident. 

The motorcycle was hit by a vehicle driven by Thomas Lucero as he was attempting to make a left turn. Lucero entered the path of the oncoming rider, and both vehicles collided. Both riders were hospitalized for treatment of sustained injuries. One passenger on the bike, Eric Marlow, was later pronounced dead. The other passenger, Joleen Mascarenas, was listed in serious condition. No additional information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the fatal crash is in the hands of local law enforcement officials.
