Roswell, NM – Three Killed in Fire on S Cedar Ave

Roswell, NM (October 28, 2023) – A total of three juveniles died as a result of a fire that took place in the Roswell area on Tuesday evening, October 24.

Reports provided by the Roswell Police Department show that at around 10:25 p.m., firefighters received a call for assistance regarding a fire at a home on South Cedar Avenue.

According to reports, a teenage babysitter was watching two young children in a home located on the roadway during the evening hours. At some point, a fire occurred inside of the home, filling it with smoke.

The parents of the two young children arrived at the scene, discovered the smoke, and requested firefighter assistance.

A 3-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy were removed from the home by their father. Paramedics rushed the two victims and their 16-year-old female babysitter to area hospitals for emergency care. Authorities confirmed that all three victims died from their injuries.

At this time, the cause of the fire is being investigated.
