San Ildefonso Pueblo, NM - Woman Hurt in Collision on NM-502

San Ildefonso Pueblo, NM (April 25, 2025) - On Wednesday, April 23, a woman was injured after a car accident outside of San Ildefonso Pueblo. The incident took place on NM-502 where the Rio Grande passes under the highway at around 5 p.m. Two vehicles reportedly collided at the scene. 

Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to provide aid to the involved parties. One of the drivers, a 70-year-old woman, suffered serious injuries. A medical helicopter was initially called but later canceled. The woman was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Española before being transferred to a hospital in Santa Fe. The area was closed for roughly an hour as local authorities worked to clear the scene. No further information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
