Santa Teresa, NM - Two Service Members Killed in Crash on Hwy 9

Santa Teresa, NM (April 16, 2025) – Two service members were killed after a car accident outside of Santa Teresa on Tuesday, April 15. The incident took place early that morning at around 9 a.m. on Highway 9 near mile marker 115. The victims were deployed to support a mission of the Joint Task Force-Southern Border. 

Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. Despite life-saving aid from attending paramedics, the victims suffered fatal injuries and were later pronounced dead. A third service member was transported to a local hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries. No further information on the deadly crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is being managed by local law enforcement officials, and more information will be provided as it continues.
