Socorro, NM - Injury Crash Closes I-25 near MM 147

Socorro, NM (May 9, 2025) - At least one person suffered injuries following a car crash in the Socorro area on Thursday, May 8. The accident took place on Interstate 25 from mile marker 147 to mile marker 150 that afternoon at around 3:05 p.m. All lanes were closed on the highway as a result of the crash. 

Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to the scene to render aid to the involved parties, and those requiring additional support were later hospitalized. At this time, the severity and number of the resulting injuries have not been determined. The circumstances leading to the crash were not included in the initial reports. The roadway was temporarily closed while emergency responders were present. Tow trucks were needed to clear the site of the resulting debris and reopen the area to outside traffic. No updates on the conditions of the involved parties have been provided. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in the hands of local law enforcement officials, and more updates will be released as it continues.
