Semi-truck accidents can be completely devastating, and they are known to result in many deadly accidents in New Mexico each year. The fatality rate in an 18-wheeler crash is much higher than in a typical collision. An estimated one in 35 semi-truck crashes end in death in New Mexico. A commercial truck can weigh tens of thousands of pounds fully loaded. Needless to say, this can be completely catastrophic when it collides at highway speeds with a passenger car. There were 821 large truck crashes reported across the state in 2022, with 44 resulting in deaths and 235 causing injuries. Nearly 3 percent of semi-truck crashes end in death and almost 30 percent end in fatality. You need to partner with a skilled lawyer if you lose someone in an unexpected trucking accident.
