Caballo Lake, NM – Two Killed in Fiery Semi-Truck Crash on I-25
Caballo Lake, NM (July 20, 2024) – A fiery collision involving two commercial trucks outside of Caballo Lake resulted in confirmed fatalities on Thursday, July 18. The deadly crash was reported on Interstate 25 near mile marker 59 late that night around 10:50 p.m. One of the vehicles caught fire in the impact, which quickly spread to both trucks.
Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. It was later revealed that one of the vehicles was traveling north when it swerved to avoid hitting an elk on the interstate. The truck went over a barrier and hit a southbound commercial rig. Both drivers sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. One of the victims was identified as Adrian Alejandro Cruz of El Paso, TX. The other driver has not been identified at this time. No further information on the incident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly accident is in the hands of local law enforcement officials.
