The number of deadly collisions taking place in New Mexico has become a concern. There were 466 traffic deaths reported across New Mexico in 2022, and 122 of these incidents involved car crashes. Almost 36 percent of these deaths involved driver intoxication, contributing to 170 deaths. Nearly 180 of these fatalities were unrestrained at the time of the accident, compared to 106 who were wearing a seatbelt. Simple things like wearing a seatbelt can potentially save a life, and injured parties need to be ready to protect their legal rights.
