Driving is one of the most dangerous things that we do almost every day. Recent statistics show that 2021 was the deadliest year on record for New Mexico roadways. That year, the overall number of traffic fatalities reached high levels that had not been seen for many years. There were 470 roadway deaths reported in the state that year. Compared to 425 deaths in 2019, this is a significant and notable increase. Some of the leading contributors to deadly crashes in the state include speeding, aggressive driving, and driver distraction.
