Driver distraction is one of the leading causes of collisions across New Mexico. Evening someone as innocent as using a GPS or having a conversation with a passenger can be examples of driver distraction, but the most common example is probably texting and driving. Many motorists fail to consider how risky it is to glance away from the road even if it is just for a few seconds in order to check a text message. When you check your phone while traveling at freeway speeds, you can cover the length of an entire football field. This is more than enough distance to cause a life-changing crash.
There is a strong chance that a car accident can leave you with serious injuries. No matter if it is a minor fender-bender or a catastrophic collision, there is always a risk you will be severely hurt as a result of a collision. You need to make sure that you are able to do everything possible to get the full and complete compensation you need to make a complete recovery.
After leaving the site of a crash, you will probably feel overwhelmed and shaken. However, you need to start taking action immediately at the scene. If you do not receive medical treatment at the crash site, you need to go to a qualified physician in order to determine how seriously you were injured. They can provide a treatment regimen and identify your condition, and seeking medical treatment will help establish a connection between your injuries and the accident. You should be sure to look out for any additional symptoms as they arise after seeing the doctor.
