Car Accidents in New Mexico
Collisions occur every day in New Mexico. Many of these accidents result in serious injuries for those involved. We continue to see innocent people hurt as a result of negligence. Even though motorists are required to provide a duty of care to others, when they breach the duty, they can cause harm to anyone else around them. Common causes of auto accidents that take place here in the state of New Mexico include:
- Speeding: When motors travel above the posted speed limit, they are at an increased risk of losing control of their vehicles. Unfortunately, speeding can increase the severity of collisions.
- Drunk driving: Even though we have many laws in place across the United States to prevent drivers from entering our roadways while impaired, we continue to see the devastating impact that their doing so can have. Innocent people continue to be harmed as a result of accidents caused by drivers who are drunk and those who are impaired by drugs.
- Recklessness: There are countless reckless actions that have devastating consequences on other drivers sharing the road. We see countless vehicle collisions take place as a result of motorists who pass stop signs or red lights at intersections, switch lanes in a careless manner, or even tailgate.
- Distracted driving: Drivers who are distracted are an increased risk of crashing into other vehicles nearby. Unfortunately, distractions are one of the more common causes of vehicle collisions in our country. Each year, it is the cause of more than 450 vehicle collisions on our roadways.
