A rollover crash can happen when you least expect it. These types of accidents are becoming more and more common with each passing year. Statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) show that almost 2 percent of traffic accidents each year involve rollovers. In 2014, nearly 66 percent of roadway fatalities involved unrestrained occupants. Despite the fact that most people think it is safer to drive a sport utility vehicle (SUV), these large vehicles are more prone to rolling over in the event of a crash. In fact, 37 percent of deadly rollovers involve SUVs. Almost half of rollover crashes result in the death of a vehicle occupant.
The time immediately following a car accident can be as difficult as the incident itself. A car accident can completely change your life in a matter of seconds, and many crash victims are unaware of how to protect their legal rights. You need to get started on your personal injury claim as soon as possible after your crash. That means hiring a qualified New Mexico personal injury attorney to help you navigate the often complicated legal process.
You need to make sure that you seek medical treatment after your accident. Even if you feel you were not seriously injured, sometimes severe injuries go unnoticed for several days or weeks after a collision. Seeing a physician can also connect your injuries to the accident and provide evidence for any potential injury claim. If you do not seek medical treatment, the insurer may use this as a justification to deny your claim entirely. Your lawyer can help protect you from these and other obstacles as they arise during your claim.
