Sharing the road with a large commercial truck can cause any driver to be overcome with anxiety. These large vehicles can be devastating in the event of a crash, and those traveling in passenger cars are more likely to suffer serious injuries. In New Mexico, roughly 3 percent of collisions involve semi-trucks. Out of the 43,000 car crashes that take place each year across the state, an estimated 1,400 will involve 18-wheelers. These crashes are nearly four times more likely to result in fatalities than a standard vehicle collision. Statistics show that nearly 61 percent of fatal trucking accidents in the state occur on two-lane roadways.
It can be difficult to recover after a crash, and this is particularly the case when the accident involves a large semi-truck. These types of vehicles can weigh tens of thousands of pounds, and that means when traveling at highway speeds, they can cause complete devastation. These types of accidents can be even more catastrophic when pedestrians are involved. There is already so little protecting a pedestrian from a crash, so when they are hit by an 18-wheeler, they are likely to sustain life-changing injuries. These types of crashes can be difficult to manage as you adjust to your injuries, and you need to know that you do not have to be alone during this difficult time. A trained legal team can help you pursue a strong claim in order to get the full and fair compensation you are owed for your injuries and other damages.
