We all know how stressful driving in New Mexico can be. Drivers in the state are some of the worst in the country. A car accident is reported somewhere in the state every 12 minutes on average. However, a more notable statistic is that someone is hurt in a collision almost every 26 minutes. Albuquerque motorists are some of the worst in the state, and Bernalillo County has more car accidents than any other county. Almost one-third of traffic accidents result in some type of injury, while less than one percent end in fatal injuries.
Car crashes continue to be the leading cause of death and serious injury in New Mexico and also across the greater United States. This means that you need to be prepared if you ever find yourself the victim of a serious collision. After a collision, you need to make sure everyone is safe. If it is safe to do so, try to get away from the crash scene. Have the police come in order to create an accident report. After that, you need to go see a trusted physician or doctor to get checked out. This is important even if you feel that you were not seriously injured in the collision. There is a chance that you suffered a serious injury that just has not become apparent yet, so you should never put off medical treatment after a collision.
