New Mexico Semi-Truck Accidents
When driving, you are probably going to share the road with a large semi-truck from time to time. Every year, 500,000 semi-truck accidents occur in the United States, resulting in hundreds of thousands of injuries and perhaps even 5,000 fatalities. Semi-trucks are involved in about 1,400 of the 43,000 or so car accidents that occur in New Mexico each year, and an estimated one out of every 30 semi-trucks results in a fatality.
Commercial trucks are much heavier than passenger cars, and crashes involving these massive vehicles are typically more severe than those involving other types of cars. Trucking companies that cut corners on hiring and training drivers, adhering to safety rules, and maintaining their trucks put the lives of those utilizing New Mexico’s highways in danger.
