Distracted Driving Accidents in New Mexico
New Mexico is home to some of the worst drivers in the country. Car accidents are still possible even if you follow all the traffic laws, and you have no control over what other people do behind the wheel. In 2018, driver distraction was the leading factor in car accidents in the state. Driving distraction contributed to roughly 21.5 percent of collisions that year that resulted in injuries, 20.3 percent that resulted in property damage, and 8.3 percent that resulted in fatalities, according to crash statistics.
Although they happen quickly, car crashes can have a lasting effect on the lives of innocent people. Most accident victims have to pay high medical costs to make up for their losses, and some may have injuries that are too severe to allow them to return to work. Dealing with the tremendous financial hardships that accident victims and their families may experience can be quite challenging.
After a vehicle collision, physical and psychological harm are both common. Your age, general health, and any past medical conditions are just a few of the variables that will impact how severe your crash-related losses will be. Post-traumatic stress disorder, aggression, rage, worry, or hopelessness are some ways that your emotional suffering may show up. Due to the challenging recovery process, many accident victims are still healing from their injuries nearly a year or more after the incident.
