There are far too many drivers these days who seem unable to focus on the task of driving. Between 265,000 and 295,000 car accidents each year, are typically the result of distracted driving. In terms of the number of fatal accidents involving distracted driving, New Mexico led the country. Drivers are required to pay close attention to the road, and if they don't, they could be held accountable for any injuries that come from a collision.
There are a few things you should do after a car accident to strengthen your case. Locate any witnesses, and if at all possible, get them to provide written testimony. You should also keep any paperwork that lists the costs and losses you have suffered as evidence of your damages. They can include, among other things that can be pertinent to your case, your medical expenses, your doctor's assessments, and records of how much work you missed.
It's also essential to begin your claim as soon as you can to guarantee the greatest conclusion. Even though the statute of limitations for submitting a personal injury claim in New Mexico is three years from the date of the accident, it is best to start the process by getting in touch with an auto accident lawyer in New Mexico while the incident is still fresh in the minds of witnesses, police, and paramedics. The more certain you can be that every important detail will be preserved, the earlier you begin working on your case.
