Distracted driving has quickly become a major contributing factor to fatal collisions nationwide. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), New Mexico has one of the highest percentages of collisions involving distracted drivers, and recent studies indicate that driving when distracted can pose the same risk as driving while intoxicated. Most distracted driving accident victims are under 20 years old, and human error plays a role in the majority of these collisions. Every year, distracted driving results in over 3,000 fatalities and hundreds of thousands of catastrophic injuries. Approximately 10 percent of the time, distracted drivers divert their attention from the road. Make sure you are prepared to work with an experienced attorney to establish a solid compensation claim.
