New Mexico Car Accidents
Operating a car is far from safe, and you never know what a careless motorist will do behind the wheel. In the state of New Mexico, car accidents remain the primary cause of fatalities and serious injuries. A total of 36,555 auto accidents were reported in the state in 2020. That year, someone was hurt in a New Mexico car crash almost every 34 minutes. Hundreds are killed and thousands are injured in state collisions each year, and you need to be ready to protect your legal rights in the event of a serious accident.
No matter how safe of a driver you are, a car accident can happen at any time. In most cases, collisions are caused by the actions of reckless drivers, such as speeding, using a cell phone while driving or making risky lane changes. No matter how the accident happened, you should not be held financially responsible for another person’s actions. It is important that you understand your situation and legal rights in order to achieve an optimal recovery.
Seeing a doctor or physician after a collision is very important. Your health and well-being should always come first, and you need to be checked out to make sure you understand the extent of your injuries. Because they believe their injuries are not severe, some crash victims make the mistake of choosing not to consult a doctor. However, this can potentially damage a potential personal injury claim if you later decide to seek legal action. You need to protect yourself during this difficult time by working closely with an attorney who is ready to defend your legal rights.
