Albuquerque, NM - Truck Hits & Kills Walker at Central Ave & 1st St

Albuquerque, NM (August 31, 2024) - On Friday, August 30, a pedestrian was killed after being hit by a city truck in the Albuquerque downtown area. The fatal crash took place at the corner of Central Avenue and 1st Street early that morning around 6:15 a.m. The victim was traveling on foot when they were struck by a Solid Waste vehicle. 

Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide the necessary aid. The area was temporarily shut down while local authorities worked to clear the scene. Despite life-saving measures from responding medical personnel, the victim sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Local officials urged nearby drivers to avoid the area and to prepare for significant delays. No additional information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
