Albuquerque, NM – Two Injured in MDC Transport Van Crash on I-40
Albuquerque, NM (April 18, 2024) – Two people were hospitalized after a crash involving a Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) transport unit on Wednesday, April 17. The accident was reported on Interstate 40 Frontage Road SW that afternoon around 2:30 p.m. Emergency crews were quickly dispatched to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties.
The MDC unit collided with another vehicle at the scene. A corrections officer and an inmate on board the van were hurt as a result of the accident. Both were transported to a local hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries. No updates on the conditions of the involved parties have been provided at this time. The area was temporarily closed while emergency crews were present, and those requiring further treatment were later hospitalized. No further information on the accident is currently available.
