Carrizozo, NM - One Killed, One Hurt in Crash with Semi-Truck on US-54

Carrizozo, NM (April 5, 2023) - On Monday, April 3, one person was killed, and another was injured after a crash involving a semi-truck in the Carrizozo area. 

At around 9 a.m., the deadly accident was reported on US-54 in Lincoln County. It was reported that 25-year-old Jay Drake Murray was headed southbound when he collided head-on with a tractor-trailer. Murrey suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver of the rig was transported to a nearby hospital. No further information has been provided at this time. 

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly crash is in progress.
