Counselor, NM – Fiery Crash on US-550 Results in Injuries

Counselor, NM (August 3, 2025) – At least one person was hurt following a car crash in the Counselor area on Friday, August 1. The collision took place on US-550 near mile marker 101, west of the Santa Fe National Forest that afternoon at around 4 p.m. Two vehicles reportedly collided at the scene, and at least one caught fire as a result of the crash. Both sides of the highway were closed following the auto accident. 

There were confirmed injuries at the scene, but the extent and number of the related damages have not been determined. The crash victims were provided aid at the scene by attending medical personnel. Those requiring additional treatment were later transferred to local hospitals for further treatment.

The circumstances leading to the crash have not been disclosed at this time. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision is in the hands of local law enforcement officials. More updates will be released as they become available.
