Deming, NM – Driver Killed in Fiery 18-Wheeler Crash on I-10

Deming, NM (September 28, 2023) – A fiery collision involving an 18-wheeler left one person dead outside of Deming on Tuesday, September 26. 

The fatal accident occurred on Interstate 10 near a rest stop at mile marker 52. It was reported that a driver operating a commercial rig was pulling into the rest area at a high rate of speed when he crashed into another 18-wheeler. The impact caused the cab of the vehicle to catch fire. 

The fire prevented anyone nearby from approaching the scene. An explosion was later heard, and there were reported fatalities at the scene. It is unknown if the victim was the driver of another occupant of the vehicle. 

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly accident is in the hands of local law enforcement officials, and more information will be provided as it continues.
