Dexter, NM – Passenger Dies in Collision on US-285

Dexter, NM (July 24, 2024) – A teenage passenger was killed following a two-vehicle crash outside of Dexter on Sunday, July 21. The deadly accident was reported on US-285 late that night, around 7 p.m. Local reports indicated that a 16-year-old was driving a car when it entered the highway and was hit by an oncoming vehicle. 

The teen driver reportedly failed to yield to the oncoming car. The driver and their passenger, 18-year-old Angela Andrews, were transported to a local hospital in serious condition. Andrews was later pronounced dead. Three occupants of the other vehicle were also injured in the impact. No further information on the deadly accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
