Gallup, NM (October 23, 2023) - Two were killed following a traffic accident near Gallup on Thursday, October 19.
The fatal crash occurred in McKinley County on US-491 near mile marker 34. Local sources indicated that 64-year-old Charles Lane of Aztec was driving a pickup truck headed north when he crashed into a car on the shoulder. A two-year-old inside the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene, and Lane was taken to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The occupants of the vehicle on the shoulder were not hurt in the collision. No additional information has been provided at this time.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the fatal accident is in progress.
