Las Cruces, NM – DUI Wrong-Way Crash w/ Injuries on I-10 at MM 151

Las Cruces, NM (May 5, 2025) – An alleged drunk driver caused an injury collision outside of Las Cruces on Sunday, May 4. The crash took place early that morning at around 6:30 a.m. on Interstate 10 near mile marker 151. It was later revealed that 20-year-old Isaiah Lopez was driving westbound in the eastbound lane when he collided head-on with an oncoming motorist. 

Emergency responders were quickly dispatched to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. A female passenger in the other vehicle was injured and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Lopez was charged with driving while intoxicated and taken into custody by local authorities. The area was closed for roughly five hours while emergency crews were present. No further information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
