What Should You Do After a Motorcycle Crash in Albuquerque, NM?
After a motorcycle crash in Albuquerque, call 911, stay at the scene, exchange insurance and plate information, take photos, get medical care, save records, report the wreck, and contact a personal injury lawyer. These steps protect your health and your claim.
Once you get medical attention, keep every follow-up appointment your doctor recommends. Motorcycle crashes can cause broken bones, road rash, head trauma, and injuries that worsen over time. Strong medical records link each symptom to the wreck.
When you report the crash to the other driver’s insurer, they may make a quick offer. In New Mexico, the at-fault driver can be responsible for medical bills, lost wages, and pain. You do not have to accept the first offer.
In Albuquerque, motorcyclists share busy morning routes like Osuna Road, Jefferson Street, and San Mateo Boulevard with commuter traffic. Lane changes during rush hour often lead to motorcycle wrecks on these roads. Drivers who skip blind-spot checks put riders at serious risk.
Even if the police report says you merged into the other vehicle, that does not automatically mean you caused the crash. Witness statements, camera footage, and road markings may show more. Do not accept blame before the investigation is complete.
Because New Mexico follows a pure comparative fault rule, you can still recover compensation even if you share part of the blame. Your recovery drops by your percentage of fault, but does not disappear. This rule gives injured riders a path forward.
An Albuquerque motorcycle accident lawyer can review the police report, collect key evidence, and challenge the insurance company if it tries to blame you. In motorcycle cases, insurers often claim the rider was hard to see or reckless. An attorney can answer that with facts.
