Compensation Available After a Fatal Crash in Roswell, NM
After a fatal crash in Roswell, surviving family members may be able to seek compensation. Damages can include funeral costs, medical bills before death, lost income, pain and suffering, and loss of companionship.
Funeral and burial expenses are the first costs families face after a fatal crash. You can pursue reimbursement for reasonable funeral, burial, and memorial costs through a wrongful death claim. New Mexico law recognizes these as recoverable damages.
Medical bills from the time of the crash to the time of death may also be recoverable. If your loved one received emergency care or was hospitalized before passing, those costs can be included. You should preserve all medical records and billing statements from that period.
A fatal collision often deprives a household of its primary source of income. You can seek compensation for the financial support your loved one would have provided. This includes lost wages, benefits, and regular household contributions.
Pain and suffering experienced between the crash and the time of death is a recognized damage category in New Mexico. You can include compensation for the physical pain your loved one endured. This claim belongs to the estate and is separate from the family’s own losses.
The loss of companionship, guidance, and daily presence carries its own weight. New Mexico law allows surviving family members to seek damages for that loss. You can include the loss of care, affection, and support your family no longer receives.
A wrongful death lawyer can investigate the crash, gather records, and handle communication with insurance companies.
