Deadly Bicycle Accidents in New Mexico
We can all agree that cycling is a fantastic pastime and a wonderful way to travel through the busy cities of New Mexico. However, its popularity does not mean it is a completely safe activity for everyone. There is little protection for the rider from the full impact of the crash, and that means they are at greater risk of suffering life-threatening injuries. As a result, many New Mexico bicyclists are seriously injured and killed in car accidents every single year. According to the latest crash statistics, the state is seeing an increase in bicycle accidents. Bicyclists are thought to be involved in two percent of the state’s traffic fatalities. In a recent year, 1,700 cyclists were treated for crash-related injuries in New Mexico, and 89 of these victims required hospitalization due to their injuries. Bicycle accidents claimed the lives of seven people that year in New Mexico.
