Semi-truck crashes result in a substantial number of deaths and injuries on New Mexico roadways each year. The weight and size of these massive vehicles make them particularly devasting in the event of a collision, and those traveling in smaller passenger cars are more likely to suffer life-threatening injuries. Statistics from 2022 show that there were 821 large truck accidents reported across the state, with 44 deadly collisions and 235 injury crashes. There were 68,320 truck accidents in total, causing 4,766 deaths. More than 76,000 people were hurt in these accidents. Across the country, an estimated 12 percent of the 35,766 deadly crashes reported involved large trucks. An astounding 30 percent of semi-truck collisions result in injury and more than 3 percent end in fatalities.
Trying to handle the outcome of a serious 18-wheeler accident is far from easy. These types of crashes are known to involve much more substantial injuries and damages, and it can be hard to pick up the pieces and resume your normal life again. The recovery process can take weeks, months, and even years if you are hurt by a semi-truck driver, and you need to be sure that you are able to make informed decisions in order to protect your legal rights and secure the maximum compensation available to you. Large transportation companies have a team of lawyers on retainer, and you will need your own legal representation in order to level the playing field. There is too much on the line to leave your recovery to chance.
