Las Cruces, NM – Pedestrian Killed in Suspected Hit-and-Run on Telshor Blvd
Las Cruces, NM (November 4, 2025) – A 47-year-old man tragically lost his life on Saturday, November 1, in what police believe was a hit-and-run crash on North Telshor Boulevard in Las Cruces. The Las Cruces Police Department reported that the collision happened around 9:30 p.m. near the 2200 block of Telshor Boulevard.
According to investigators, the man was crossing the street when a Chevrolet Impala struck him, throwing him into oncoming traffic. Additional vehicles may have also hit the victim after the initial impact. Police stated that some of the other drivers involved did not stop and may not have realized they hit the man.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and found the pedestrian unresponsive. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are withholding his identity until his family is notified.
Police said the 24-year-old Impala driver did not suffer injuries and is cooperating with the investigation. Detectives continue to review surveillance footage and interview witnesses as they work to identify all vehicles involved.
Our deepest condolences go out to the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time.
Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in New Mexico
Tragic incidents like this highlight the growing concern about recent pedestrian accidents in New Mexico. Pedestrian fatalities have risen throughout New Mexico, with many caused by reckless driving, speeding, or distracted motorists. These heartbreaking events leave families grieving and searching for answers—and justice.
Victims of fatal crashes or their families may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. Such claims can help families recover financial compensation for their losses while holding negligent drivers accountable.
Common types of compensation available include:
- Medical and funeral expenses – Covers hospital care, emergency response, and burial costs.
- Loss of income and support – Compensates surviving family members for the victim’s lost wages and future financial contributions.
- Pain and suffering – Acknowledges the emotional trauma caused by the tragic event.
- Punitive damages – In cases involving reckless or hit-and-run behavior, additional damages may apply to punish the wrongdoer.
Under the New Mexico statute of limitations on personal injury laws, families generally have a limited amount of time to file a claim, making it important to seek legal help as soon as possible.
