Lemitar, NM - Patricia Despain Killed, Two Hurt in Auto Accident on I-25

Lemitar, NM (May 28, 2023) - One person lost their life, and two others were hurt in a car crash that occurred in Lemitar. The wreck occurred at around 11:00 a.m. on I-25 on May 21, Sunday. 

The crash involved two cars on Interstate 25 when a 2015 Nissan passenger vehicle was headed south on the interstate behind a 2007 Jeep SUV. A rear-end crash occurred between the two vehicles, causing the jeep to roll over. 

A passenger present in the jeep, identified as Patricia Despain of Holbrook, Arizona, lost her life at the scene. The two drivers were both sent to the hospital with undisclosed injuries. The NMSP is currently investigating the incident. 

Emergency crews were observed working at the scene for an extended period of time on Sunday. Authorities continue to investigate the details of the accident.
